FAQBun and Thigh Max Frequently Asked Questions
1. What weight resistance is on this product? The Bun & Thigh Max (BATM) provides a torsion spring resistance, which has variable resistance settings from 20, 30, and 40 lbs of resistance. The maximum resistance is achieved at widest setting with full extension of the exercise. 2. How often should I work out? We suggest you start off with the 5 BATM exercises, performing each exercise for 1 minute. We recommend viewing the BATM workout tape with Kathy Derry, at least 3 times per week. Gradually, increase the amount of time on each body part and the adding of resistance. For an advanced workout, you can incorporate the BATM exercises into the cardio workout program. 3. How do I adjust the resistance? The BATM has dial resistance. Grab the cylinder and twist. The arms will separate slightly for each resistance level and you will hear the arm CLICK into place. 4. Where do I place my foot? For the leg press, calf press, and Bun Kick, place your foot in the center of the pedal with your toe aligned with the BATM arm. This will keep your leg in the correct alignment for maximum resistance on each exercise. 5. What is the Power Edge? The power edge identifies the arm that is to be placed on the ground for the Bun Kick. Place the foam pad of the arm with the bright yellow and blue decal facing down against the floor. You will stand on this to do your Bun Kick. Follow the instructions for doing this exercise, included in this workout system (Page 4). 6. Does this product need to be assembled? No, your Bun & Thigh Max is completely assembled, no additional tools or parts needed. Open the box and start your workouts! 7. How much does the Bun & thigh Max weigh? Total weight of the machine is less than 5 lbs. 8. Do I have to warm up before using the Bun & Thigh Max? Yes. As with any other type of workout, a warm up is required before using the Bun & Thigh Max, as well as a cool down after your workout. Warming up before your workout stretches your muscles for a safer workout. The circuit training video that comes with the Bun & thigh Max system is great for warming up. A cool down is required after your workout because it actually lengthens the muscles that have contracted during your exercise and results in a more natural, toned appearance. 9. When is the best time of day to work out? From a purely physical standpoint, the body is probably best prepared for a vigorous workout at mid-afternoon, when it is well-fueled and loosened up. From a practical standpoint, however, the best choice is the time of day that you can set aside for exercise without interruption. Your workout schedule has to fit within your lifestyle and daily commitments. The best time to work out is when you want to, so pick a time of day at which you find exercise enjoyable. Just make sure not to exercise within two hours of bedtime. Doing so can disrupt your sleep. 10. Should I train a muscle if it's sore? No. If your legs are still sore from the last leg work out, take at least another day off. Rest is when the muscle grows. 11. Should I eat before or after training? When training you should work out on an empty stomach, or close to it. You want the blood to be available for your muscles, not tied up digesting food. You want to eat within 90 minutes after a work out. 12. What should I eat as my meal before an aerobic workout? Again, don't eat anything too heavy before a meal. The average American's diet is very high in protein and relatively low in complex carbohydrates, so complex carbs before an aerobic workout are probably better. Keep the total calories from fat to 25% or lower, in general. 13. What is the quickest way to tone up? The best way to tone your body is to perform resistance/weight training exercises on a regular basis, such as exercises with the Bun & Thigh Max. Such exercises make your muscles firmer, stronger and more defined - which gives you that "toned" look. Of course, if the muscles are hidden under a layer of excess fat, you'll need to combine your weight training with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet. 14. I do lots of outer thigh (tummy, buns, etc.) work. Will that part of my body slim down first? No. When we're working a muscle or group of muscles to burn fat, we have no control over what part of the body we burn fat or lose inches from. There is no such thing as "spot reducing". Fat generally is used up in pretty much the reverse order it was put on, (LIFO - Last In First Out). When you are exercising, the blood is carrying fat from all over the body to provide the energy. The muscles which are being worked will improve, of course, so when the layers of fat finally do get worked off, you'll have some nice lean tissue to show for all your efforts. 15. Can I get rid of cellulite around my butt? What the heck is cellulite? Cellulite is fat. Period. Cellulite is simply a term used by scientists to describe that cottage cheesy stuff that you often find on your thighs, butt, and hips. Women typically have cellulite because their adipose tissue is structured differently from men. As we gain weight, our fat cells swell while our connective tissue stays the same, thereby causing that lovely dimpling effect we all love to hate. So, can you get rid of it? Since cellulite is fat, there are NO MAGICAL SOLUTIONS to get rid of it. If you reduce the SIZE of your fat cells, you can reduce the cottage cheese look. This is best accomplished with diet and exercise. The Bun & Thigh Max System is specifically designed to facilitate the process of inch loss and cellulite reduction in the lower body area. 16. Is doing sit-ups the best way to lose my belly? Abdominal exercises are great for
strengthening and firming up the abdominal muscles, but they do little to
erase the fat that accumulates at the belly. To lose the fat, you
literally have to burn it off by using it for energy. You can do that by
engaging in regular aerobic (cardiovascular) exercise, reducing your
caloric intake, or through a combination of the two. The Bun & Thigh Max
system is ideal for toning this area. Your body will draw from the fat
stores at your belly, using those stores for energy. Thus, your belly size
will be reduced. Not at all. Exercise should not be painful. A feeling of discomfort, such as muscular soreness or burning, generally occurs when your body is not accustomed to doing something. That is normal and is to be expected when you start to exercise or change your routine. Pain, on the other hand, indicates that potential damage is being done. 18. Will the Bun & Thigh Max Circuit Training Video help with losing the inches? We recommend you start by using the
Aerobics/Circuit training Video for 20 minutes a day, 3 days per week.
Gradually, increase the duration and frequency of your workouts to shape,
tone, and keep those inches off.
